G-Detect: Privacy Policy

1. Overview

G-Detect is designed to help users manage metal detecting sessions, finds, locations and tracks.
We respect your privacy and we do not sell, share or use your personal data for advertising purposes.

2. Data collected by the app

G-Detect does not create a user account and does not collect personal information on our servers.
Most data created in the app is stored locally on your device.

The app may store locally:

Finds and related notes
Photos or attachments added by the user
GPS coordinates associated with finds
Recorded tracks during detection sessions
Application settings and preferences

This data remains on your device unless you explicitly export, back up, share or transfer it using your own device tools or app features.

3. Location data

G-Detect uses location data to provide core features of the application:

Save the position of a find
Display finds on a map
Record a detection track during a session

When track recording is enabled, the app may require background location access in order to continue recording your track while the screen is off or while the app is not actively displayed.
This feature is only used for track recording and only when the user starts a recording session.

You can disable location permissions at any time from your Android device settings or from the app settings when available.
On recent Android versions, this permission may appear as “Allow all the time”.

4. Network and data sharing

G-Detect does not send your finds, tracks, photos or notes to our servers.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties.

Some optional device or platform services may be involved depending on your usage, for example:

Google Play services for app installation, updates and purchases
Google Play Billing for in-app purchases or premium access
Map services if the app displays map content
Backup/export tools if you choose to save or transfer your data

These services are governed by their own privacy policies.

5. Backup and restore

Because your data is primarily stored locally on your device, uninstalling the app, resetting your phone or changing device may delete your local data.
Please use the backup and restore tools provided in the app before changing device or reinstalling the application.

6. Children’s privacy

G-Detect is not specifically directed to children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the data handled by the app.
However, because the data is mainly stored on your device, you are responsible for protecting access to your phone, backups and exported files.

8. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time to reflect app changes, legal requirements or Google Play requirements.
The latest version will always be available on this page.
